VAN DINE, MURIEL The death of Muriel Van Dine of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Friday, August 28th, 2009. Born in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late George and Maria (George) Smith and the wife of the late Reid Van Dine. Muriel graduated from Normal School and moved to Toronto to be trained as a Pediatric Nurse. She worked for many years in the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital where she received recognition for her caring and hard work. She married Reid Van Dine in 1953 and lived in Fredericton. She was a lifelong member of Christ Church Cathedral and member of the Friendship Guild. She will be sadly missed by family and friends. Survived by her daughter, Penelope Van Dine (Craig Palmer); granddaughter, Julia Palmer all of Quebec; one brother Ronald Smith of Bobcaygeon and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the hospital staff and ward nurses who went above and beyond the call of duty to make her last days comfortable. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Reid; two sisters, Mabel Spilman and Amy Burns. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday, September 5th, 2009 at 10:00 am. The Very Rev. Keith Joyce will officiate. Interment will be in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery at a later date.
