LIBBY MILLER
MILLER, LIBBY After a long and noble battle with cancer, Libby Miller passed away Thursday, September 10th, 2009. Elizabeth Shirley Stephens was the youngest child of Shirley (nee Munro) and Howard Stevens of Bermuda. Predeceased by her brother, Carl Bridges, and sister Ethel Nicaragua; and Stanley (Jean), Port MacQuarrie, Australia. A loving wife to Donald for nearly six decades until his death last summer, Libby was also a wonderful mother to seven children; Stephen, Calgary; Allison Calvern (George DeMille), Fredericton; Barbara, Fredericton; William Nathan (deceased); Dawn, Edmundston; Alex (Marcella Bellefleur), Edmundston and Patrick (deceased). A deep-seated urge to help and give to others dominated her life of active service in both Eastern Star and her church. Libby has contributed to countless community dinners, blockbuster rummage sales and spectacular Christmas concerts. While she enjoyed gardening and crafts, her keenest passions were painting and music, both of which she shared profusely with family and friends. Her valued paintings hang in many houses and the interior walls of her beloved St. Paul's United Church have developed a patina of love and melody. Like a stradivarius, they have absorbed the sounds from her fingers on the piano, leading the choir and congregation in song. Each Sunday morning, Libby arrived early, ending her practice with her splendid favourite, "Because You Come To Me". Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 16th at 11 am at St. Paul's/St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, 86 Church Street in Edmundston, with visitation on Tuesday 7 to 9 pm and Wednesday 9 to 10:30 am at J.B. Coté, 160 Church Street. A reception at the Church Hall in the Catholic Cathedral, 145 Rice Street, will follow the funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Paul's United Church in memory of Libby would be appreciated.
