KITCHEN, ROY DALTON At the Dr. Chalmers Regional Hospital on Monday, October 5, 2009 Roy D. Kitchen of Fredericton passed away. He was 74. Born in Springfield, NB on January 1, 1935, he was a son of the late Guy and Laura (Brown) Kitchen and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was employed with James S Neill & Sons for twelve years and the City of Fredericton, Recreation Department for thirty years, retiring in 1995. He was involved in sports most of his life but hockey, softball and baseball were his favorites. Roy was a member of the city of Fredericton Sports Wall of Fame being inducted in 1995 as a member of the 1966-1967 Fredericton Capitals hockey team and again in 2002 as a member of the 1960-1964 Fredericton Neill's Softball Team. He was also a member of the New Brunswick Softball Hall of Fame being inducted as a builder in 1998 and again in 2004 as a member of the 1960-1964 Fredericton Neill's Softball Team. After retiring he enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren and attending sporting events with his buddies. Survived by one daughter, Heather Lynn Kitchen, husband, Keith Cuthbertson of Halifax, NS; one son, Shawn Kitchen, wife, Tanya of Fredericton; four grandchildren, Wesley and Tatyana Kitchen and Laura and Rebecca Cuthbertson; brothers in law, Phil Moore and Bill Stone (Bev); sisters in law, Muriel Wilkins and Jean McFarlane (Dave); several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Louise (Stone) Kitchen; brother, Harry Kitchen; four sisters, Pearle Wiggins, Jessie Moore, Thelma Stairs and Allie Palmer. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road. Funeral service will be on Friday from Gibson Memorial United Church at 11 am with Rev. Boyd Vincent and Rev. Tim Guptil officiating. Reception to follow. Interment will be private.
