MCSORLEY, BERLA ELIZABETH It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother and sister Berla Elizabeth McSorley age 86 on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Gables Lodge in Amherst. Born in Barker's Point, NB, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Yeomans) Staples. She and her husband had owned Cumberland Paving and Contracting Ltd; she was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst, Tantramar Chapter I.O.D.E and a former member of the Amherst Golf Club, the Amherst Curling Club and the Kinettes. Berla will be lovingly remembered by her children, Timothy (Wanda) of Amherst, Eleanor (Paul) Hayter of Halifax, NS, Linda McSorley of Campbellton, NB, and Susan (Gordon) Cowie of Amherst; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Berla was predeceased by her husband, Dennis; brothers, Charles and George; sisters, Lillian Brittian and Nel Coldwell. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Monday, October 26, 2009 from 7 to 9 pm with parish prayers at 8 pm at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 am from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Interment will take place in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery. Reception to follow. Donations in Berla's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Cumberland VON.
