SAVAGE, LEIGH HARRY The passing of Leigh Harry Savage of Fredericton, NB, husband of Barb (Forrest) Savage occurred on Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 18, 1947 in Stanley, NB, he was the son of Amy (Flewelling) Savage and the late Harry Savage. He was an Investigator with the Province of NB, after his retirement he enjoyed working with Jones Masonry as a Safety Officer, he also enjoyed farming on the homestead in Stanley. Leigh was a member of the Fredericton Lions Club and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4. He was a volunteer with Therapeutic Ride, Meals to Wheels and the Canadian Blood Services. Leigh was known as a great family man; a person that was always there to lend a helping hand; Leigh also had a quick wit and a great sense of humour. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and loved the summers at their cottage on Maquapit Lake. In addition to his mother and wife, Leigh is survived by his son, Gordon (Karin) of Eastern Passage, NS; daughter, Debbie Savage of Fredericton, NB; step children, Jennifer Patterson of Fredericton, NB and Erin (John) Gallagher of Omemee, ON; grandchildren, Caleigh, Josh and Thomas; brothers, Laurie (Renée) of Fredericton, NB and Sandy (Hoda) of Stanley, NB and several nieces and nephews. Besides his father, Leigh was predeceased by his grandparents, Fred and Lillian Flewelling and George and Laura Savage. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Monday, November 9, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 2 pm with Rev. Canon Elaine Hamilton officiating.
