OPAL MARY CORRIER
CORRIER, OPAL MARY The passing of Opal Mary (Hickey) Corrier, of Cardigan, wife of the late Elric Corrier, occurred on December 11, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on March 20, 1925 in Lorne Settlement, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Lena Hickey. Opal was a cook. She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Tay Creek. Opal enjoyed her community and friends; she always opened her house to those in need of help. Opal is survived by two sons, William (Mariette) of Lorne Settlement and Nelson of Cardigan; two daughters, Muriel Peterson (William) and Betty Thomas all of Cardigan; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jimmy (Annette) of Thompson, MA and Veron (Claudine) of Lorne Settlement; four sisters, Ruby Hickey, Barbara Lavigne and Evangeline Lavigne (Adrien) all of Lorne Settlement and Carmella Hickey of Dalhousie; two sons-in-law, Leigh Thomas of Kingsley and William Peterson of Cardigan; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sons, Mark and Donald; infant daughter, Marie; granddaughter, Lisa Peterson; great-grandson, Mark David Joseph Corrier; sisters, Mathilda Hickey, Josephine Hickey; brothers, Norman and Leonard; brother-in-law, Eugene. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home Ltd., 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Tay Creek, NB, on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 1 pm with Father Aaron Knox as celebrant. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to the cemetery fund or to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
