ESSENSA, JOYCE AUDREY The passing of Joyce Audrey (Shanks) Essensa, formerly of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late Lawrence Essensa, occurred on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at the Wauklehegan Manor in McAdam, NB. Born in Marysville, NB on May 13, 1917 she was a daughter of the late Allen and Susie (Pond) Shanks. Joyce was affiliated with the Marysville Baptist Church. Joyce is survived by her daughter, Nancy MacDonald (Earle) of Fredericton, NB; sons, Lawrence (Bridget) Essensa of Harvey, NB and Gerald (Jacqueline) Essensa of Red Deer, AB; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Joyce was predeceased by grandson, Darren MacDonald; sisters, Gertie NcNally and Jean Hughes; brothers, Hazen, Royden, Allen, (Pincher) and Charles Shanks. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton on Monday, December 28, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held from York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLoed Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 1 pm with Rev. David Dubois officiating. Interment will take place in the Marysville Baptist Extension Cemetery at a later date.
