(nee Cranford) (June 8, 1923-June 27, 2008) Passed peacefully away at St. Luke's Home on Friday, June 27, 2008, in the presence of her family, Hilda Higdon of New Harbour, aged 85 years. Predeceased by her husband John S. (Jack) Higdon. Left with Precious memories: daughter and son-in-law Elaine and Martin J. Hammond, St. John's; son and daughter-in-law Jack and Julianne Higdon, Sarnia ON; grandchildren Sean Hammond (Natasha Best), Mt. Pearl, Lynn Salter (David), St. John's; Cheryl Ronholm (Shawn) Sarnia ON; Shelia Higdon, London ON; great-grandchildren Madeline Bridge Salter and James Martin Salter, St. John's. Also dearly remembered by sister Jenny Higdon (Andrew), New Harbour; brother Howard Cranford, (Verna) NS, sister-in-law Jean Pollett (Roy), and Rita Cranford (Gerald), New Harbour; Viola Higdon, New Harbour; Leah Hedley, BC and Kay Cranford St. John's. Also remembered by her numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Hilda enjoyed many of her later years at home in New Harbour with special caregivers Linda, Daisy, Marie, Louise, Glenda, Julia and Mona. In 2008 Hilda moved to St. Luke's Home, St. John's where she enjoyed wonderful care and friendship from the extraordinary staff, residents and volunteers. Resting at Warren's Funeral Home, Dildo, Trinity Bay. Visitation on Saturday, June 28th, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29th, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Monday June 30th, 2:00 p.m. from St. Augustine's Anglican Church, New Harbour. Interment to follow at St. Augustine's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hilda's memory to the Janeway Children's Hospital.
