88, New Waterford Mary Beatrice O’Connell, 88, of Warren Avenue, New Waterford, passed away Friday, May 9, 2008, in the Maple Hill Manor. Born in Dominion, she was a daughter of the late Peter J. and Mary Anne (MacNeil) MacNeil. She was a member of the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Church. Beatrice enjoyed playing bingo and had a strong love of kids. Surviving are sons, Wayne (Mary), New Waterford, Daniel (Gail), Gardiner Mines; sister, Gertrude MacKinnon, New Waterford; grandchildren, Alicia, Wayne, Kyle and Daniel; great-grandchildren, Abbeylynn and Emma Jean. She was predeceased by her husband, John William in 1962, sisters, Nora, Evelyn, Annie, Jenny and Frances, brothers, Walter, Joe and Fred, and one daughter in infancy. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass celebrating Beatrice’s life will be held Monday, May 12, at 2 p.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Church with burial in the parish cemetery. A reception will follow in the Carmel Centre. Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
