1915-2008 Glace Bay/North Sydney It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother on Monday, May 12, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay on April 25, 1915, she was the daughter of the late George and Florence (Bonner) Milley. Mary was a member of St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay. A loving, caring woman who gave tirelessly to her family, putting everyone else’s needs ahead of her own. Sustained by her deep faith and love for her church. A resident of the Enriched Housing Complex of the Northside Community Guest Home, she was able to maintain her independence because of the support and care she received. Mary will be sadly missed by her sons, Joseph A. (Linda), Bernard (Simone); daughters, Mary Alice (Jim Dwyer), Connie (Wayne Fletcher); cherished grandchildren, Donna Dwyer (Roy Boutilier), Michael (Sharon MacDonald), Patrick (Anne) Dwyer, Ramona (Tim Thorne), Karen MacKinnon, Cindy (Joe) Nemis, Wayne (Denisa) Fletcher, Jenna MacKinnon (Jason), Michael MacKinnon (Mitzi); great-grandchildren, Erin and Courtney Dwyer, Laura and Michael Dwyer, Maria and Anthony Nemis, Riley and Cameron Fletcher. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph (Joe the Barber) MacKinnon. In honouring Mary’s wishes, cremation will take place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 2 p.m., Thursday, May 15, 2008, at St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay. Fr. Bill Rankin will be officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Memorials in Mary’s memory may be made to the Northside Community Guest Home, 11 Queen St., North Sydney, B2A 1A2, or St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay.
