Naish Usher

80, Sydney Hector Ignatius Usher, 80, of Westmount, formerly of Braemar Drive, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. Born in Dominion, he was the son of the late James and Sarah (MacLean) Usher. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima parish, Sydney River, and also the Seaview Golf & Country Club. Naish was well known in musical circles from the 1940s through 1980s, particularly for his piano and saxophone talent, playing with several bands. He was employed at Metropolitan Life Insurance for most of his career. He is survived by his wife, the former Anne Winstanley; sons, Gary (Wendy), Comox, B.C.; Glenn (Marlene), Sydney, Grahame (Donna), Halifax, Vaughn (Catherine), Medicine Hat, Atla; John (Nicole), Ottawa, Ont., Scott (Mary Lou), Sydney; a sister, Mary Usher, Dominion; brother, Gerald (Lorraine), Kitchener, Ont.; grandchildren, Kate, Nicholas, Kyle, Erika, Nicole, Aidan, Kaitlin, Darren, Shaunessy, Mitchell, Kelsey, Lauren and Danielle. He was predeceased by his son, Darren and brothers, Laughlin, Gregory and Patrick. There will be no visitation for the late Mr. Usher. A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Rev. Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
