Halifax John Albert King, Halifax, passed away suddenly May 14, 2008, in North Sydney. Born in Florence, N.S., he was the son of the late Edward and Margaret (Wallace) King. John served five years in the RCAF which included a UN peacekeeping mission in Egypt. He owned and operated Maritime Radiator in Halifax for 10 years. Most recently he was president of Greenhills Developments. John loved animals and the outdoors. He enjoyed regular walks in the woods with his girls and the dogs. John had a lifelong passion for wooden boats and enjoyed sailing very much. He was an avid reader and had a talent for building and fixing anything. John was very proud to be a Cape Bretoner. Above all, John loved his family. He was a loving husband to Harriet for 45 years and a devoted father to his girls. Dad was always there for us and we will miss him dearly. He is survived by his wife, Harriet (Bolton) King; daughters, Alison Leverman, Patti King; sister, Edith MacLeod, New London, P.E.I.; brother, Wallace King, Florence; a number of nieces and nephews; many cousins and special four-legged pals, Sandy and Willow. Funeral will be held Monday, May 19 in Bethany United Church, Halifax, at 2 p.m. Family will receive friends and relatives after the service in the church hall. Family flowers only.
