87, Bras d’Or It is with heavy hearts, we the family of Bill Day, announce his passing on May 15, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital. Bill, a native of Bras d’Or, was the son of the late Vincent and Louisa (Colvey) Day. He served overseas with the Cape Breton Highlanders. Bill was a member of St. Joseph’s parish, Bras d’Or; and a valued member of the community with an avid interest in politics and sports, especially baseball, playing in his younger years and maintaining a lifelong enjoyment in watching a good ball game. Bill is survived by his loving wife, the former Juanita (Nita) LeBlanc; his daughter, Joann, Bras d’Or; his son, Eddie, Ontario; and three grandchildren, Brianna, Emily and Katie. Also, surviving are his brothers, Joseph (Joey) and Les; his sisters, Dorothy Serroul and Betty Musgrave. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Walter, Hartland, Gordon, Lawrence and Eugene, his sisters, Irene LeBlanc, Margaret (Maggie) LeBlanc, Melinda (Ninnie) Ross and Juanita MacLean. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at Francis Funeral Home, Sydney Mines. Funeral mass will take place Monday, May 19 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or with Fr. Peter MacLeod officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery under the direction of Francis Funeral Home.
