87, New Waterford Mary Murray, 87, of Mary Avenue, New Waterford, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex. Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Duncan and Mary Jennet (Hawley) Currie. Mary was a member of the parish of St. Leonard, St. Agnes Church as well as the CWL. Her deep faith in prayer combined with her patience and compassionate manner made her a very loving mother. She was always concerned about her family, even up until the time of her death. Mary is survived by her five daughters, Patricia (Donald) Young, Mary Sass, Teresa Hughes, all in Ontario, Cecilia Desveaux, who resided with her mother, Bernadette Murray, New Waterford; four sons, Vincent (Barbara), John (Shirley), William (Rickie) and Pius (Annemarie), all in Ontario. Mary is also survived by three brothers, John (Christine), Boston, Duncan, Gerald, both in British Columbia; one sister, Martha Gillis, New Waterford, who was also Mary’s best friend; two sisters-in-law, Marie Coish, New Waterford, Anna (Don) Fraser, Winnipeg; and her brother-in-law, Bernie Murray (Diane), also in Winnipeg. Mary will be sadly missed by her 29 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, John Robert Murray, one daughter, Margaret Napper, two brothers, William, Aloysius and a sister, Margaret. Visitation for Mary will be held Wednesday, May 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, St.Agnes Church followed by interment in the parish cemetery. Following the mass all are invited to the Army, Navy, Airforce Hall for a reception. As an expression of sympathy for Mary, donations in her memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of one’s choice.
