91, Glace Bay/Sydney It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eva Hynes, Monday, May 19, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, at the Glace Bay Hospital. Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of the late Duncan J. and Flora (McLean) MacMillan of 236 Whitney Ave. Eva resided in Glace Bay where she raised her family. In 1945, Eva formed a women’s club called ‘The Twilight Club’ and although there were changes in membership over the years, it continued through to the year 2000. One of Eva’s greatest joys was spending time at family gatherings where her fun-hearted personality was enjoyed and appreciated by her children and grandchildren alike – the grandkids coined the phrase: “Nan’s Cool”. Eva was a remarkable lady who embraced life with a marvellous sense of humor and a zest for life. Eva is survived by sons, Charles ‘Josh’, Glace Bay, Terrance (Cindy), Louisbourg, Greg (Judy), Sydney; and daughter, Catherine (Pat) Devereaux, with whom she resided these past nine years; grandchildren, Sandra, Richard, Debbie, Linda, Jovita, Terri, Catherine, Christopher, Katelyn, Pat, Tracey and MJ’ and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and close friends including special niece Chris Nash who loved and cared for ‘Ma’. Eva was predeceased by her husband, Peter, infant daughter Audrey, son Richard, sisters, Catherine Marshall, Muriel, Laura, Pearl Wilson and Grace Latham, brothers, Bruce, Charles and Arthur, daughter-in-law, Esther and grandson David. Visitation tomorrow (Thursday) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. Funeral Mass of Resurrection Friday 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Rev. Leo Boone officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations in Eva’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society or charity of choice.
