MCGIRR, GERALD GEORGE (GERRY) - The death of Gerald George (Gerry) McGirr, husband of Ellen (Elaine) (Doiron) McGirr, occurred on April 8, 2002, at his residence, Ridgewood Veteran's Wing. Born Saint John he was the son of the late James and Elizabeth (Dempsey) McGirr. He was a graduate of Sat. Vincent's Boys High School. He was a veteran of WW II serving overseas as a Captain with the North Shore Regiment. He was employed as an auditor with Revenue Canada before his retirement in 1972. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 69, the United Commercial Traveler's, the United Services Institute, the Federal Super Annuities Association, and was active with the Boy Scouts of Canada and St. Rose of Lima and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Parishes. Besides his wife he is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Helen (Haley) McGirr, his sisters Armoury Patterson, Katheline Clancy and Audrey Lynch, and his brother Jack McGirr. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 12, 2002, at 10:00 am from St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
