78, Greenwood Ernest Louis Admond, 78, of Greenwood, N.S., passed away Saturday, May 24, 2008, in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Glace Bay, N.S., he was a son of the late Alex and Lucy (Detchevery) Admond. Ernest was in the Medical Corps in the Canadian Army for 25 years, stationed in Quebec, Germany, Shilo, Gagetown and retired from the base in Sydney in 1979. His favourite pastime at each base was hunting and fishing, and he was an avid curler. He spent his earlier retirement years working for fun and retired from the Commissionaire Corps in 1993. After his wife passed away he began to winter in the Annapolis Valley and finally moved there permanently in 1998 to live with his daughter and her family. Ernest is survived by daughters, Gail (Merville) Mitchell, Fredericton, Donna (Terry) Peters, Greenwood; son, Tracy Admond, Fredericton; sisters, Madeline Achorn, Glace Bay, Jeanette MacKenzie, Dartmouth; brothers, Bernard ‘Bunny’ (Cecilia) Edmond, Glace Bay, Edward (Norma) Edmond, Powassan, Ont.; grandchildren, Patience, Stephanie, Michelle, Shane, Matthew and great-granddaughter, Aurora. He was predeceased by his wife the former Aurora Boudreau, sisters, Mary Farrell, Adele Admond, brothers, Alex, Leo, Raymond, Francis and Norman. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 27 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Mary Queen Cemetery, MacLeod’s Siding, Campbellton, N.B. By request, family flowers only.
