81, Sydney John Norman Langley, 81, of Kings Road, Sydney, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, Cape Breton. Born in Point Tupper, he was the son of the late George and Margaret (MacLean) Langley and foster parents, the late Daniel and Anna MacSween. John was a veteran of the Second World War. He retired as a foreman from CN Rail after 42 years. He was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church. John was a past member of the Lions Club, Odd Fellows, Church Men’s Club, Cape Breton Shrine Club, the Masonic Lodge No. 84, Sydney and the Royal Order of Jesters. Surviving are his wife, Agnes; sons, Ken, Baddeck, and Donald (Raylene), Sydney; grandson, Adam, Toronto; foster sisters, Willena Cook (Charles ‘Bud’), Sydney, Dorothy MacDonald, Sydney, and Danita Ley, Ontario; and foster brother, Charles Bailey, Ontario. John was predeceased by his parents, brother, Henry, sister, Alexandria and foster sisters, Anne Marie and Norma. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Tuesday, 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with a masonic service held at 6:45 p.m., Wednesday. A funeral service will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Thursday at 3 p.m. with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
