Edith Harris, of Maple Hill Manor, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2008, at the Manor. Born in Burgeo, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late John and Melida (Anderson) Kendall. Myrtle was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, and an active member of the Ladies Guild for many years. In her early years, she enjoyed gardening in her yard in Lunenburg. She came to New Waterford as a young adult and moved to Lunenburg, N.S., after her marriage to Samuel Harris. She returned to New Waterford to be with her family 20 years ago. Myrtle resided at Maple Hill Manor from July 2007, until her death. Previous to her arrival at the manor, she lived at the Hillcrest Seniors Complex, King Street, and Waterford Heights Long-Term Care Facility. Myrtle enjoyed good conversation and laughter with her friend and roommate, Elizabeth Aucoin. She will be missed by her friends, especially Jeanette Chappell. Myrtle is survived by her sisters, Alma (Colie) Gillis, River Ryan, and May Dalton, Scotchtown; brother-in-law, Gerald Murphy, New Brunswick; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Samuel in 1969, sisters, Hilda Sellars, Ellen King, Grace Murphy, Mabel Anderson and her brother, the Rev. George Kendall. She was also predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Ernest Sellars, Eugene King, Jacob Anderson, James Dalton, sister-in-law Lyla Kendall, several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Funeral service will take place Monday, June 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. in All Saints Anglican Church with Rev. Stacey Lemoine officiating. A luncheon will follow in All Saints Anglican Church Hall. All are welcome. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg, Tuesday, June 3, 2008, next to her husband Samuel. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Maple Hill Manor, 700 King St., New Waterford, B1H-3Z5.
