age 89 Anna Margaret (MacKay) MacKinnon, 89, passed away peacefully June 2, 2008, at Northwood Manor, Halifax, N.S. Born April 11, 1919, at Cape Mabou, Inverness County, to the late Ellen (Ella Matheson) and Donald S. MacKay. She had been married to the late John Albert (Abbie) MacKinnon and later moved to Sudbury to raise their family. She returned to live at Strathlorne, N.S. in 1967 where she later worked a number of years at Mary’s Hill Home, Mabou. She enjoyed 18 years of friendship with the late Dave Carroll of Margaree Forks. She also organized a number of events at the seniors home where she resided in Inverness. She is survived by her son, Donnie and his wife Frances, Halifax; daughter, Ellen (MacLean), Oakville, Ont.; four grandchildren, Ross and wife Stelly, San Francisco, Lara MacKinnon-Balding and her husband Bryan, Minneapolis, Sean MacKinnon, Dartmouth, and Amber Kylee MacLean, Victoria, B.C; four great-grandchildren, Gavin and Kiera Balding, Minneapolis, Nathan MacKinnon, Dartmouth, and Cassidy, San Francisco; numerous nieces and nephews across Canada and the U.S.A., as well as two close sisters-in-law, Georgie MacKay, Sudbury, Ont., and Mary MacKay, Saint John, N.B. She was predeceased by five brothers, Norman, Alex, Johnnie, Neil and Malcolm and a sister, Jennie. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. A viewing will be held at the St. John’s United Church, Strathlorne, Wednesday, June 4 from 6-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 5 at 2 p.m. followed by the burial at St. Matthew’s Cemetery, Strathlorne. A reception following the burial will be held at St. John’s United Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Strathlorne Memorial Fund.
