Jacques Laroche

62, Sydney Jacques Jean Laroche, 62, of Sydney, formerly of Montreal, passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Montreal, he was the son of the late Jean and Claire (Lavoie) Laroche. He was a 33-year employee with the Public Service of Canada, retiring from the Canadian Coast Guard College in 2001, after 25 years service. Jacques was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 12. He was an avid stamp collector who hoped someday to publish his works. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Danielle (Larocque); a son, Guy, Sydney; a sister, Christine Lavoie, Montreal; and his loyal companion, ‘Spunky,’ the border collie. Friends of the family can gather one hour before the service which will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 7 at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Donations to the Cape Breton Palliative Care Society.
