Trenton It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eva Joan (Nichols) Boyles, of The Maritime Odd Fellows Home, Pictou, and formerly of Sydney, Wednesday, June 4, 2008. At the time of her death, Eva was surrounded by her loving husband, children and grandchildren. Born Oct. 29, 1929, in Trenton, N.S., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Laffin) Nichols. Eva was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Eva loved spending time at her cottage in Little Harbour, tending her gardens and entertaining family and friends. The perfect day for Eva always ended with a good game of cards and a great cup of tea. Eva was a lifelong member of Lady Doric Order of The Eastern Star and a former member of The Concerned Citizens of Trenton and the Royal Canadian Legion. Eva is survived by her beloved husband of 33 years, Fraser Boyles, Trenton; her 10 children, sons, Ron MacDonnell (Beverly Greig), Victoria, B.C., Robert (Susan) MacDonnell, Bridgewater, N.S., Kevin MacDonnell (Sharon Goulden), Mississauga, Ont., John MacDonnell, Trenton, N.S., Paul (Georgina) MacDonnell, Oshawa, Ont., Brian (Gail) MacDonnell, Brooklin, Ont.; daughters, Theresa (Tom) Doyle, Oshawa, Ont., Cecilia (Michael) Stroeder, Oshawa, Ont., Sandra (Reg) DeGruchy, Trenton, N.S., Karen MacDonnell (John Dean), Bowmanville, Ont.; her 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her first husband, Francis MacDonnell, brothers, Larry and Leroy Nichols, sisters, Helen Gerrior, Dorothy Tarr, Viola Gratto, Margaret Taylor, Martha Sweet and Dot Lively. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Friday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, High Street, Trenton. A funeral service will held at 1 p.m., Saturday in First United Church with Rev. Debra Orton officiating, followed by interment at Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to The Maritime Odd Fellows Home or The Alzheimer Society. Order of the Eastern Star will meet at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m., Friday to conduct their service. The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care Eva received as a resident of The Maritime Odd Fellows Home.
