Glace Bay On Sunday, June 8, 2008, after a brave and gallant battle with cancer, Dan McFadgen regrets to announce the passing of his friend and wife of 52 years of marriage. Born in Glace Bay July 11, 1927; a daughter of the late John and Edna MacVicar; beloved wife of Daniel and loving mother to Gloria McFadgen-MacDonald, Dolores (Bernd) Wehmeyer and Daniel (Lucie) McFadgen; grandmother to Bradley, Erin, Mark (Aya), Ryan (Melissa); “GG” to great grandson, Makiya. She is also survived by sisters, Ruth Smith, Betty (Russell) Holland, Hughena (Alex) Morrison, Valerie (Eric) Shea, Edna (John) Kitnay and Marion Brooks; brothers, Roddy (Dolores) MacVicar and John (Bonnie) MacVicar; brothers-in-law, Grant Haskel and Freddie Brooks. She was predeceased by sisters, Amy MacAskill, Paulette Haskel; sister-in-law, Margaret Rudy; brothers-in-law, Kenny Smith, John MacAskill, Cyril Conahan, Harvey McFadgen and Dan Rudy. Thanks to family, friends, Dr. Carol Critchley, Dr. J. Jenson and the staff of the cancer centre, VON, Drs. and staff of Palliative Care; and to the caregivers Carol Williamson and Mary Davidson. A warm-hearted loving person, she generously assisted family, friends or strangers when in need. She will be sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know her. Visitation tomorrow (Tuesday, June 9) 2-4 and 7-9 in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main Street, Glace Bay. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Wednesday 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church followed by burial in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the “An Cala” Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital (Patient Financial Assistance Fund).
