87, Scotchtown It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Emily Elizabeth ‘Bessie’ Cameron (MacNeil) on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at New Waterford Hospital. Born in Whitney Pier, she was a daughter of the late Hector and Rebecca (Garland) MacNeil. Bessie was a member of St. Alphonsus Church, Victoria Mines. Her warmth and generous nature made her the heart of our home and the love of our life. She will always be remembered for her keen sense of humour and ability to entertain at moments notice. Our hearts are filled with loving memories of the warmth and kindness she had for everyone. She will be sadly missed by all and forever live in our hearts. She is survived by her daughters, Anne (John) Stevens, Toronto, Lois (Robert) Greene, Dartmouth, Sylvia (Romeo) Melanson, New Waterford, Cindy (Brian) Horwath, Scotchtown; sons, Hector, Dartmouth, Francis (Charlene), Vancouver; brother, Walter MacNeil, Sydney; sister, Mary Poirier, Sydney; grandchildren, Cameron, Joy, Andrea and Stephen, Raymond, Robert and Christine; and great-grandchildren. Bessie was predeceased by her husband, Alexander, daughter, Sandra, brothers, John, Raymond, Joseph, Tom, Jim, Ed and George, sister, Annie Cusack. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass celebrating Bessie’s life will take place Friday, June 13 at 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Joseph’s Church, New Victoria, with burial in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow in St. Joseph’s Church Hall, all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton (New Waterford).
