40, Sydney Brian Edward Delaney, 40, of Elmwood Avenue, Sydney, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at home. Born in Sydney, he was a son of Sadie (MacNeil) Delaney and the late Bernard Delaney. Brian was a member of Holy Redeemer parish and was employed with Home Depot. He had a great love for hockey and baseball and cheering for the Montreal Canadiens. Brian spent the past hockey season coaching the ‘Green Machines’ with Sydney Minor Hockey. Besides his mother, Sadie, he is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Wadden); son, Corey and daughter, Shelby, both at home; sister, Kim Delaney (Steve Keeping), Sydney; brother, Steven (Tania), Mt. Uniacke; mother-in-law, Helen Wadden; sister-in-law, Donna (Rod) Swistun, Elmsdale; nieces, Stacy and Samantha; nephews, Peter and Riley; and numerous aunts and uncles. Brian was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Ray and Mildred (Whalen) Delaney and maternal grandparents, Alphonse and Olive (MacNeil) MacKenna. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel tomorrow (Thursday, June 12) 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, Friday, June 13, 11 a.m., with Rev. Errol MacDonald officiating. Interment in Eastmount Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Holy Redeemer Building Fund or to Palliative Care.
