89, Sydney It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Helen, regret to announce her passing on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a short illness. Helen was born and raised in Sydney. She was employed for many years at the Isle Royal Hotel and the Holiday Inn until she retired. She was a member of St. Anthony Daniel Parish, an associate member of Branch 12 Legion and past President of the KOC Ladies Auxilary 1060 for 13 years. She will be sadly missed by her son, Harold (Georgina) and granddaughter, Courtney, Penticton, B.C.; brothers, Peter (Carol), Gordie (Catherine), both of Sydney, Charlie (Janice), Ontario and Alan, B.C.; sisters, Gladys, Frances, Marie, Mary, all of Sydney and Josephine, Ontario. Aunt Helen was also dearly loved by many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband, James; parents, George and May Thompson; brothers, George, Charlie and Jimmy; sisters, Alice, Ida and Jenny. Visitation will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel today (Saturday, June 14) from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, June 15, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Daniel church with Rev. Donald MacGillivary officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
