BASTARACHE, GERALD J. - The death of Gerard J. "Gerry" Bastarache of Saint John, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, August 24, 2002. Mr. Bastarache was born in Ste. Marie de Kent, a son of the late Cecime and Jeanne (Maillette) Bastarache, and had resided the greater part of his life in Saint John where he had been employed with Thorne's Hardware until his retirement a number of years ago. He is survived by two sons, Ronald of Fredericton, and Paul of Alberta; four daughters, Patricia Bastarache of Saint John, Pauline, Mrs. Gary Foster of Saint John, Jocelyn Bastarache of Halifax, and Rose Marie Bastarache of Montreal; one brother, Leo Bastarache (Rita) of Adamsville; two sisters, Emelda, Mrs. Camille Leger of Moncton, and Norma, Mrs. Arthur Goguen of Waltham, Mass.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday morning at 11:45 to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00.
