73, North Sydney It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Frances MacTaggart, on Monday, June 16, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Frances was born in North Sydney and was a daughter of the late Jack and Sarah (Boutilier) Devison. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or. Frances is survived by her loving companion, Ralph Richardson; sons, John (Brenda), Gerard (Mary); daughters, Mary Rose (Gary Rideout), Donna (Albert McCormick), Debbie, Maureen (Gordie MacNamara) and Darlene (Joe Tomko). She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Frances was predeceased by her husband, Johnston (Donty) MacTaggart, brothers, Kevin, Claude and Harvey and one sister, Rose. The family wish to express special thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and to Dr. Debra Gowan for their care and compassion. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, June 18 and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday, June 19 in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 20 at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or with Rev. Peter MacLeod officiating. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
