Dec. 18, 1929-July 2, 2008 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a fellow Cape Bretoner, on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener, surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Aberdeen, Glace Bay, N.S., he was predeceased by his parents Norman and Catherine Stanley; daughter, Sharon, son, Kenny and five brothers, Herbie, Leo, Alex, Edgar and Frankie and sisters, Anna, Alice, Madeline and Marjorie. He is survived by his brother, Cletus and sisters, Toni and Emily. Norman was a coal miner in Glace Bay, N.S., as well as in Grand Cash, Alta. He was also a veteran in the Armed Forces, having served in the Second World War. He enjoyed playing poker and going to the casino. Norman will be sadly and deeply missed by his wife, Catherine, of 60 years. Dear father of Normie (Frances), Mary (Jimmy), Jimmy (Diane), Gary (Charmaine), Sharon (Johnny) and 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Norman’s family will receive relatives and friends from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. today (Friday, July 4, 2008) and 10-10:45 a.m., Saturday, July 5, 2008, at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, Ont. (519)749-8467. A liturgy service will take place in the chapel of the funeral home Saturday, July 5, 2008, at 11 a.m. followed by cremation. Fr. Jim Boudreau officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
