70, Glace Bay (Hub) Shirley Marie MacDonald, 70, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Glace Bay Hospital on Thursday, July 3, 2008. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Isabel (McDonald) McLeod. A homemaker all her life, she enjoyed days with her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed Kinsmen TV Bingo. She is survived by children, Linda (Dave) MacMullin, Billy, Marlene (Barry) Boutilier, Joan (Joe) Mischiek, Ed (Sherry), Norma (Joseph) Spencer, Dolly (Blair) Seymour and a very special granddaughter, Angie (Ryan Turnbull), whom she raised and loved as her very own; grandchildren, Wendy, Holly, David, Steven, Alicia, Francis, Mark, Michael, Anthony, Shayla, Jennifer, Jamie, Christopher; great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Kalan, Victoria, Ashton, Autumn and Malcolm; she is also survived by siblings, Mary, Francis and Bernie. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Malcie of 52 years in October 2007; and by sons, Mickey, Ron and Stephen in infancy and a number of siblings. Under the direction of Curry’s Funeral Home and in accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday, July 5, 2008, at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, New Aberdeen. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Family flowers only.
