Hanratty Age 67 Thomas Albert (Bert) Hanratty, aged 67, died in Toronto on Saturday, July 5, 2008, at the Toronto Grace Health Centre. He was born April 16, 1941 in Sydney, N.S. to Thomas John and Mary Margaret (nee MacDonald) Hanratty. He attended Sydney Academy and Xavier Junior College in Sydney and graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 1961. He married Mary Helen Burke in 1963 and they lived in New Brunswick from 1963 to 1994. A school teacher and principal for over 30 years, he was also very active in the New Brunswick Teachers Association, serving as its president from 1983-1985. Following Bert’s retirement, he and Helen lived in Montreal from 1994-1996, after which they moved to Toronto. Bert is survived by his wife, Helen; four children, Liam (husband of Lisa), Kate, Siobhan and Niall (husband of Tina); two grandsons, Griffin and Sam; two sisters and five brothers. A funeral mass will be held at St. Basil’s Church in Toronto, Thursday, July 10 at 10 a.m. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Toronto Grace Health Centre or SpreadTheNet.org.
