65, North Sydney It is with heavy hearts that we, the family announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Mary Bernice MacIntyre, on Thursday, July 10, 2008. Born in North Sydney, Bernice was the daughter of the late John Peter and Ida Mae (Allen) Young. Bernice was a loving, kind and gentle mother who enjoyed spending time with her family, bingo, and a good game of cards. She has touched so many lives and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her eight children, Joseph, Toronto, David ‘Neily’, Blair ‘Mickey’, Diane (Danny), Pam (Darby), all of North Sydney, Maryanne Fitzgerald (Russell), Baddeck, Gordie, Huntsville, Ont., Sharon MacKinnon (Simon), Sydney Mines; five sisters, Mildred, Phyllis, Kay, Anne and Maude. Fond memories of ‘Nanny’ will be forever treasured by her 12 grandchildren and her seven great-grandchildren. She also left behind many nieces, nephews and many friends including her dear friend, Peggy and her ex-husband, Sammy. Bernice was predeceased by brothers, Roy, Francis, Fred and Steve and by her sisters, Margaret, Jacqueline, Grace and Jean. Visitation for Bernice will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Sunday, July 13 in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, July 14, 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
