Sydney River/Vancouver With very heavy hearts the family of Leanne Kristen Tipert announce her sudden passing. After a very short but difficult battle with cancer, Leanne bravely left this world peacefully with her family and friends by her side on Monday, July 21, 2008. It is impossible to summarize who Leanne was in just a few paragraphs, as the imprint she has left on the souls she loved most is immeasurable. Leanne will be remembered by her family and friends as a vivacious person who always had a care and concern for those whom she was close to. Born in Moncton, N.B., Leanne moved to Sydney River, N.S., where she spent her formative years. Leanne graduated from Riverview High School and later from the University College of Cape Breton with a diploma in hospitality. Leanne moved to B.C. to pursue her career and eventually settled into the company of Delta Hotels. She worked at the properties in Whistler, Sun Peaks and finally Vancouver Airport where she was director of conference services. Leanne is survived by her parents, Wayne and Carolyn Tipert, Sydney River; sister, Kimberley Russell (Dean), niece, Madelyn and nephew, Jackson, all residing in Kamloops, B.C.; and grandmother, Phyllis MacKay, Yarmouth, N.S. She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Joshua and Effie Tipert and maternal grandfather, Edward King MacKay. A wine and cheese reception in celebration of Leanne’s life will be held at the Delta Sydney Hotel, Sydney, N.S., Friday, July 25, 2008, between the hours of 5-9 p.m. Mementoes of remembrance are welcome. A family memorial is scheduled to be held in Leanne’s final resting place in Lockeport, N.S. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorials be made to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. Memorials may be sent to the family at sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
