G. WILLIAM (BILL) GIVEN

GIVEN, G. WILLIAM (BILL) - At the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 25, 2003 G. William (Bill) Given of Saint John West husband of the late Thyrza V. (Moffatt) Given. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Walter T. and Beatrice E. (Gardner) Given. Mr. Given was a veteran of World War 2 and served in the Canadian Army with the 14th Field Ambulance Corp. from September, 1939 to December, 1945. He was the Maritime Champion Speed Skater in 1934 to 1935. Bill was an avid sports fan and played baseball, hockey and football. He was a member of the Rothesay Royal Canadian Legion Branch #58 and the Fusiliers Club the Sergeants Mess and Chiefs and P.O. Mess. He is survived by three sons Bill (Jean) of Saint John, Michael of Rothesay, Rick (Heather) of Kingston Peninsula, three daughters Betty Jane Smith and her husband Lloyd of Saint John West, Joanne Roberts and her husband David of B.C., Sandra Galbraith (Martin) of Saint John, two brothers Donald and his wife Patricia of Saint John David of Quebec, three sisters Elsie Green of Ontario, Winnifred Dobbin and her husband Harry of Fairvale, Audrey Norris of Ontario, several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, wife one daughter Margo, one sister Nancy and two brothers Walter and Jack. Resting at the Castle "Fallsview" Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. (634-1701). Funeral service will be held at the "Fallsview" Chapel on Friday February 28, at 1 PM. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery Field of Honor. Visiting at "Fallsview" on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
