64, North Sydney It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the death of Meta Jane Boutilier, nee Bradley, age 64, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Meta passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Olive (Bradley) Hardy. Meta worked for a period at both National Sea Products in North Sydney and Cara Food Services at the Marine Atlantic Terminal. She loved her summer trips to her trailer in Tarbot. She was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, North Sydney. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; her daughter, Virginia (Charles) MacDonald, Halifax; and son, Stan Boutilier, North Sydney; very special grandson she raised, David (Rita) Boutilier. Also surviving is her grandson, Kyle Devoe and granddaughter, Isabella MacDonald and great-grandson, Dustin Steele; her sister, Robina (Dennis) Jessome, Ontario; and brothers, Brian (Marie) Hardy, North Sydney, Gordie (Lori) Hardy, Dartmouth, Jimmy (Patti) Hardy, Ontario. Besides her parents, she was predeceased a brother, Walter Bradley. Special thanks to Diane Boutilier, Wanda Ford, friends and family for their care, kindness and support, and the staff at both Cape Breton Regional and the Northside General hospitals. There will be no visitation by her request. A funeral mass for Meta will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 26 at St. Joseph Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Jim Attwood officiating, with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney.
