JONES, VERNA KATHRYN - At the Victoria Glen Manor Perth-Andover on March 21, 2003, Verna Kathryn Jones of Florenceville passed away at the age of 84. Born in Riverbank, NB, she was the daughter of Leon & Violet (Chase) Tompkins. Survived by son Brian (Cheryl) Jones of Riverbank, daughter Rayma (John) MacPherson of Dartmouth, NS, grandchildren Stephanie and Garreth MacPherson and step granddaughter Anne Smith, sister Bernice Brooks of Connecticut, brothers Edmund and Everett (Joyce) of Florenceville. Several nieces and nephews and cousins. Predeceased by her parents, husband Ivor, infant daughter Barbara, brothers Cecil, Alan, Maurice and Wendell Tompkins. Verna spent a decade in Nova Scotia during her youth but returned to Florenceville where she devoted herself as a loving wife and mother. She was devout in her faith and a member of the Pentecostal Church. Verna worked at McCain Foods for many years. She enjoyed gardening and sewing. She will be fondly remembered and missed by her family and friends. The family will receive friends at Kilcollins Chapel Florenceville, with visiting today 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be Sunday at 1PM from Kilcollins Chapel Florenceville, Rev. Ken Stoddard will officiate. Interment will be in the Florenceville United Baptist Cemetery at a later date.
