E. JOAN SPURWAY

SPURWAY, E. JOAN - Joan Spurway of Fredericton, NB, passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday, March 23rd, 2003. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Reginald and Edythe (Kerr) Spencer, and the wife of the late Robert H. Spurway. Joan is survived by her four children: Peter Spurway (Nancy) of Halifax, NS; John Spurway (Margot) of Fredericton; Pamela Cousens of Fredericton and Anne Ba (Abou) of Ottawa; as well as ten grandchildren; Jamie, Matthew, Lindsay, Geoff, Katie, Sarah, Laura, Andrew, Hamid and Malick. Joan was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bob and her sister Agnes Freeze. Joan was an active member of Christ Church (Parish) Church for many years. She sang in the choir for over 40 years, was involved in a number of church committees and was a Brownie and Sea Ranger leader. Joan also had a passion for live theatre. She was one of the founders of Theatre Fredericton and produced and performed in several amateur productions. She also performed in many Theatre New Brunswick performances. For anyone who met her, Joan will be remembered for her love of family and friends, her kind and generous spirit that touched so many, and for her fun loving ways that made her the special person she was. There will be no visitation by family request. A memorial service will be held at Christ Church (Parish) Church on Wednesday, March 26th, 2003 at 2:00 pm with Archdeacon John Sharpe officiating. Interment will be held in the Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the Christ Church (Parish) Church Memorial Fund or UNB Scholarship Fund would be appreciated. McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
