COOPER, BENJAMIN CALEB (1955-2003) - Benjamin C. Cooper, 47, formerly of New Maryland, NB passed away peacefully at York Manor Nursing Home, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, April 3, 2003 after a lengthy illness. Born in Moncton, NB July 18, 1955, he was the youngest son of the late Lt. Col. William Thomas Cooper and the late Inez Roxana (Rathburn) Cooper. Ben is survived by one son Joshua (Josh) John; one daughter Rebecca (Becky) Ann; their mother Debra (Colwell) Cooper-Roach; four brothers, William (Elaine), Moncton, Dr. Robert (Julia), Ottawa, ON, Dr. Thomas, Grande Prairie, AB and The Rev. John (Jack), Fredericton; one uncle, Eldon (Margot) Rathburn, Ottawa, ON; one aunt, Joan (John) Morris, Mississauga, ON; one cousin, Roberta Morris, Etobicoke, ON; nephews and nieces, Zoe, Bill, Jill, Romy, Debbie, Andrew, Laura and Julie; one grandnephew and six grandnieces. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Roxie. Ben worked at Levine's Dept. Store and Riverview Ford Lincoln Sales Ltd. before his illness. He was a member of The Church of the Holy Trinity, New Maryland and was a member of the New Maryland Lions Club. A popular Mobile DJ, he was an active participant in sports as well as an official. He was a keen Montreal Canadiens fan. Ben's first love was his children. His positive, friendly, cheerful manner was an inspiration to all, especially during his long illness. He was a gentle, loving man who will be deeply missed. Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, with visitation on Friday, April 4th, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 5th, 2003 at 2:30 PM from St. Anne's Chapel of Ease, Westmorland St. with Bishop George Lemmon and Peter Somerville, Director of Pastoral Care of York Manor, officiating. Following cremation, interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Saint John. A reception for family and friends will be held at the home of George and Debra Roach, 59 Birmingham Court, Fredericton, following the funeral.
