VIRGINIA JULIA ZED

ZED, VIRGINIA JULIA - Surrounded by her loving family passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4th, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born August 15, 1939 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Leesha H. and Josephine (Simon) Zed. She attended Saint Vincent's High School and Modern Business College after which she devoted her life working in a variety of family businesses. She worked in the family grocery and real estate businesses. Virginia was a devoted member of The Cathedral Parish in Saint John where she was a member of the CWL. She was also a member of the Canadian Lebanon Society, an active member of the Liberal Party of Canada, the New Brunswick Liberal Womens' Association and a Director of the Saint John Federal Liberal Association and Saint John Harbour Liberal Association. Throughout her life, she was a caring and generous person who was always concerned for the well-being of others. Her life was motivated by charity and her love of family. Virginia is survived by her brothers Ronald (Sadie) Zed, and Dr. Leesha G. (Nadia) Zed, her sister-in-law Mrs. Velmore M. (Pauline) Zed, all of Saint John and her sister Eileen Younis, of Reading, Mass. She was predeceased by her parents, Leesha and Josephine Zed, her sister Annetta Tibbett, and her brother Dr. Velmore M. Zed. She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and godchildren to who she was very devoted. Her smile and caring manner will never be forgotten. She was well known by many of the local downtown citizens and touched the hearts of everyone she met and her spirit will be fondly remembered. She left everyone with a warm smile and a friendly wave. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home with visitation on Monday April 7th, 2003 from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 8th, 2003 at The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Waterloo Street at a time to be announced. Interment will take place at Saint Joseph's Cemetery in the Zed family plot. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Romero House or The Saint John Boys and Girls Club.
