GREGORY ARTHUR PIERCE
PIERCE, GREGORY ARTHUR - 90, Halifax, NS. A life well lived ended peacefully at home April 5, 2003. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on January 31, 1913, he was the son of John B. and Margaret (King) Pierce and was the last remaining member of his immediate family. Greg was employed with Canadian National Telecommunications for 49 years. He began as a messenger in Saint John, NB delivering telegrams for 3¢ a telegram and retired as the sales representative known as Mr. Telex. Greg's second career followed with Maritime Beauty Supply and his dear friend Maurice Doucet. For 26 years, until the time of his passing, Greg contributed his spirit, energy and loyalty to his colleagues and customers. Greg was a good soul who lived life as it should be lived. He enjoyed life, he enjoyed people and people enjoyed him. Greg was genuinely interested and concerned about every person he met as he went about his daily routine. He truly believed that it is better to give than to receive. The smiles and warmth he gave so readily were often accompanied by a candy to brighten your day. Greg is survived by his daughter Gretchen Ziegler (Rod), Edmonton; sons Graham (Susan), Cole Harbour; Evan, Halifax; grandchildren Stephen and Lauren Pierce; nieces and nephews throughout New Brunswick; and his good and dear friends. Greg was predeceased by his wife Kathleen (Somers) Pierce; daughter Alyson (Pierce) Whalen; brothers Louis, Jack and Frank Pierce and Norman Comeau, Saint John, NB. Visitation will be 7-9 pm Monday and 2-4, 7-9 pm Tuesday April 8, 2003 at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Windsor St. Halifax. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday April 9, 2003 at 10 am in St. Theresa's Church Fr. Thomas White officiating. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Lower Sackville.
