NORMAN J. STANTON
STANTON, NORMAN J. - The death of Norman J. Stanton of 113 Duke St./Loch Lomond?occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, April 29, 2003. Mr. Stanton was born in Saint John, a son of the late William and Margaret (McHugh) Stanton. He had been a member of the Saint John Fire Dept. from 1956 until his retirement with the rank of Senior Fire Prevention Officer in 1992. He had been appointed Local Assistant to the Fire Marshall in 1975. He had received the Exemplary Service Medal and the Long Service Medal from the N.B. Fire Service. He was active for a number of years in the City Market Senior Citizens Centre, holding the post of President for the last 3 years. He is survived by one daughter, Beth Stanton (Steve Cownden) of London, England; one brother, Esmond (Eileen) of Virginia; one sister, Patricia Leahey of Moncton; and several nieces and nephews, including special nieces Margaret and Wendy. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., from where the funeral will be held on Saturday morning at 9:30 to St. John the Baptist Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o'clock. Following cremation, interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visiting on Friday from 12 to 4 and 7 to 9.
