RAYMOND ARTHUR BEATTIE

BEATTIE, RAYMOND ARTHUR - On April 14, 2003, Raymond Arthur Beattie of Calgary, Alberta passed away at the age of 62 years with his family by his side after a strong fight against cancer. He is survived by two daughters, Shawna Lee-Ann Beattie and Sherry Rae Beattie (Lorne Harder) all of Edmonton two granddaughters, Jade Krall and Madison Krall, both of Calgary. Eight sisters and one brother, Mona (Al) MacDonald of Scarborough, ON, Hazel Keenan of Riverview, NB, Alberta (Leo) Boucher of Campbellford, ON, Marguarite (Brendan) Blizzard of St. John, NB, Elva Guitard of Campbellford, ON, Norman Beattie (Janet) of Halifax, NS. Dorothy (Burton) Cox of Hampton, NB, Ruth (Frank) Corbin and Sandra (Michael) Teehan all of Quispamsis, NB and Aunt Thelma Ballard of Doaktown, NB and twenty seven-nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, Elwood Crocker and Myrna Hazel; sisters, Doris & Greta. A native of New Brunswick Ray graduated from St. John Vocational school in June of 1958 followed by a six-month post-graduate course to complete the Radio Electronics cirriculum (a standard process at that time). Ray spent 24 years as Air Traffic Controller with Flight Services, Transport Canada , being stationed in Edmonton, Aklavik, Inuvik, Yellowknife, Fort McMurray, Fort Nelson, and Medicine Hat. In 1984, Ray formed AALRAY Maintenance & Repair, which he dissolved in 1986. From that time until his illness in 2002 he was Resident Maintenance Manager of a 288-suite apartment complex in Calgary. Ray had a deep feeling for kids and sponsored children through World Vision International. He will be fondly remembered for his friendly manner, his patience in making wood products, his love of movies, music and dressing well. Memorial service was held at Park Memorial Chapel in Edmonton AB on April 17, 2003 following Cremation in the Park Memorial Crematorium. Please note the memorial service being held in St. John. Memorial Service, May 10th at 11:00 A.M. at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, St. John NB with Reverend Tom Robinson officiating. A reception to follow in Brenan's Reception Room. Inurnment will follow in United Cemetery, Doaktown, NB (3:30 P.M) with Reverend Patrick Cook officiating.
