CLAYTON PAUL McGUIRE

McGUIRE, CLAYTON PAUL - Clayton Paul McGuire of Woodstock, NB, passed away at the Veterans Health Center in Fredericton on Sunday, May 11th, 2003. Clayton was born in Woodstock, NB on November 17, 1919. He is survived by his wife, Irene (Sharkey) McGuire, sons James H. McGuire of Fredericton, Gerald (Shirley) McGuire, daughters Shirley Ann (Robert) Wilson, and Sharon (David) Webb of Woodstock. Six grandchildren, David McGuire, Ottawa, Angela and Sara McGuire of Fredericton, Mary Jane and Megan McGuire, and Jason Wilson, of Woodstock. Brothers, John (Natalie) McGuire, of Gaithersburg M.D. and Ronald McGuire of Wilberforce, Ontario. Several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James A. McGuire and Jennie (Crabbe) McGuire and sister, Dorothy McGuire. Clayton served his country from 1940 to 1946 with the Number Two Tank Troop of the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers attached to the Fourth Armored Division. After the war he returned to Woodstock, married and moved to Campbellton, NB for six years, returning in 1955, where he worked as a mechanic, eventually operating his own service station until his retirement. He was a past president and life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Woodstock Branch # 11, and a member of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Woodstock Branch # 95. He served for fifty years as a member of the Knights of Columbus # 2234, as past Grand Knight, Fourth Degree Member, and past Faithful Navigator. He also served on Woodstock Town Council for six years. Resting at the Culberson Funeral Home, 188 Connell St., Woodstock, N.B. (325-1130). Visiting hours on Tuesday, May 13, 2003, 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at 2 PM from St. Gertrude's Church, Woodstock. Interment to follow at the Calvary Cemetery.
