LESLIE SINCLAIR (LARRY) LOOMER
LOOMER, LESLIE SINCLAIR (LARRY) - Age 73, of Wolfville Ridge, N.S., died Friday, May 30, 2003. Born in Windsor, N.S., he was the eldest son of Earle Raymond Loomer and his wife Verna Barbara Neaves. He was educated at public schools in South Farmington and Falmouth, Windsor Academy, King's College School, Acadia and Boston universities. Larry began his career as an art teacher, returning to the subject in later years as a painter, notably of watercolour landscapes, some of which are in private collections throughout Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. In his early career he was a writer and editor with the Telegraph-Journal and Evening Times-Globe, Saint John, and the Daily Gleaner and Atlantic Advocate, Fredericton, New Brunswick. The last twenty-nine years of his business career were as a dealer in used books, principally in Windsor. He contributed to many periodicals and published several books, including King's Edgehill School 1788-1988, Windsor - A Journey in History, and Allinghams. Some of his plays were performed in Canada and California. Larry is survived by his step-mother, Mae, Windsor; sister Bernice, Montreal; two brothers, David, Kingston, Paul, Falmouth; five step-sisters, two step-brothers, numerous nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, and cousins by the dozens. He was predeceased by his parents and brother Kenneth. Cremation has taken place and ashes will be interred privately in Falmouth at a later date.
