ROBERT ALLABY REID

REID, ROBERT ALLABY - Robert Allaby Reid died on Thursday, June 5th, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. He was the son of the late Ivan W. Reid and Gladys Rebecca (Allaby) Reid; husband of Norma (McCracken) Reid. Survived by his wife, Norma, daughters, Pamela (Bill) Webster and Elizabeth (Wayne) Boyle; one son, Timothy; grandchildren, Ben, Allan, Duncan, Matthew, Megan, Sam, Jane, and Daniel; sisters, Margaret McKenna of Sussex, Muriel Tucker (Charles) of Hampton, Nancy Waters (Terry) and Susan Sharpe (Dawn) both of Calgary; brothers, Ian Reid (Betty) of Ottawa, Jamie Reid (Edith) of Fredericton, and Peter Reid (Lil) of Norton; and many nieces and nephews. Bob graduated from UNB in 1955 with a BSc(F). He spent his working years with The Aluminum Company of Canada in Kitimat, BC, Arvida, Quebec and The Research and Productivity Council in Fredericton, NB. Bob suffered a stroke in 1988, which altered his life considerably forcing him to give up many of the activities he so enjoyed. He was an avid curler and skipped a Senior Mixed Team to two Provincial Championships. He enjoyed gardening and spending time at his cottage. In earlier years he spent many hours repairing and restoring antique furniture. He was a member of the Fredericton Golden Club and Forest Hill United Church. There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 14th at 3:00 PM at the Forest Hill United Church with Rev. Meredith Fraser officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
