THORNE, WALTER E. - The death of Walter E. Thorne of Cambridge, husband of the late Phyllis (MacAlpine) Thorne occurred June 21, 2003 at Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born at MacDonald's Corner, son of the late Butler and Alice (Tolley) Thorne.? He was a veteran of WWII serving overseas in England with the Canadian Military Police. Walter was engaged in farming before working for the Department of Transportation retiring in 1983. He is survived by three daughters Barbara Smith (Rev. Paul Smith) of Kingston, Leisa Dube (Jean Paul) of Saint John, Linda Jenkins (Daniel) of Kingston; one son Wayne of Saint John; one sister Dorothy Ferris of Saint John; one brother Niven Thorne (Joyce) of Lower Cambridge; nine grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers William and Ernest Thorne. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton. The funeral will be held Tuesday at Reid's Funeral Home with service at 1:00 pm. Rev. Ted Newell officiating.? Interment in First Cambridge Baptist Cemetery, MacDonald's Corner.
