MURRAY E. BURLEY
BURLEY, MURRAY E. - The death of Murray E. Burley, husband of Margaret M. `Peggy' (Galbraith) Burley, of Smythe Street, Saint John, occurred on Friday, June 18, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John son of the late William (Will) and Florence (Morris) Burley. Murray served during the Second World War with the N. B. Rangers in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe and was formerly employed with the Port of Saint John and was a member of the ILA Local #273. Murray enjoyed golfing and fishing and was an avid sportsman. He was awarded a lifesaving medal for saving a child on the marine dock on the West Side. Besides his wife he is survived by his twin daughters Margaret and her husband John Schnieder of St. Andrews, NB, Marilyn MacDonald of Rothesay, NB, his brothers James (Dot) of Fredericton, NB, Frank of Prince Edward Island, his sisters Dorothy (Ditty) Burley of Saint John, Lorraine Comeau of Saint John West, and Elsie Dwyer of Saint John, West, his grandchildren Jennifer Sulprizio of California, Roxane Streeter of Rothesay, Melissa Gadowsky of Fairbanks, Alaska, Michael MacDonald of Rothesay, Cail MacDonald of Rothesay, Jillian Chown of Churchill, NWT, Nathan Chown of St. Catherines, ON, Melanie Chown of Saint John, his great-grandchildren Brooke and Anna Streeter, August and Annabelle Sulprizio, Mac and Magnus Gadowsky, and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Following cremation at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), Saint John, the funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2003, at 2:15 PM, from Brenan's Chapel.
