JARRATT, WILLIAM (BILL) JAMES - Bill Jarratt, of Bathurst, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2003 in Nelson B.C., surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was the eldest son of Lucy [nee Hennessy] and Sidney Jarratt of Bathurst. Beloved husband of Hilda [nee Rogan]. Loving father of Kevin (Lysa), Conor, and Patrick. Devoted grandfather to Sheldon and Hunter Jarratt. He will be terribly missed by his eight brothers and sisters: Glenys (Sally)" (Dr. Brian Warriner), Anne (Jim MacDonald), Sidney "Snooker"(Donna Hall), Peter (Beverly Doucet), John (Pauline Doucet), Theresa, David, and Melynda (Dan Weston). Bill attended Holy Family School and LeBlanc High. He left Bathurst in 1967, but he returned home regularly over the years, most recently the summer of 2002 to attend his parents 60th wedding anniversary celebration. He leaves behind many aunts and uncles, nieces nephews, cousins, and countless life-long friends including Joe Bourdage, and Lloyd Blackmore, formally of East Bathurst, who was at his bedside when he died. Bill was an avid outdoorsman, and loved camping, fishing and hunting. He was an Eagle Scout, Army Cadet and a member of the Army Reserve. He worked as a miner throughout Canada, the Northwest Territories and Ireland, retiring only when illness prevented him from working. His funeral was held Wednesday, August 6, 2003 in Nelson, where he will be buried. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. A celebration of life service will be held in Bathurst, at a time to be announced by the family.
