James 'Jim' Smith

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, James J. ‘Jim’ Smith on July 28, 2008, at the Victoria General Hospital. Jim was the youngest son of the late John R. and Margaret (McKenna) Smith, formerly of Sydney. He is survived by his wife, Judy, Halifax; daughter, Tara (Ryan) Clancey, Halifax, Stephen (Michelle) Smith, Oakville; granddaughter, Ana Clancey and grandson, Caleb Smith. Also surviving are brothers, Robert (Maisie), Bill (Annette); sister, Marie (Calvin) LeDrew, all of Sydney; and brother, John (Jan), Quispamsis, N.B. Jim was founding president of Maritime Travel in 1979 when the company purchased three locations and under his leadership grew to become 81 locations nationwide. He will be sadly missed by all who new and loved this energetic and friendly man.
