EVANS, WILLIAM J.W. (BILL) - "What a beautiful day the Lord has given to me today!" That is the way Bill started every day, even the day he went home to be with his Lord, Monday, September 8, 2003. William John Wilson Evans (Bill) son of the late William J.W. Evans and Gladys (Wilcox) Evans. Bill was born and raised in West Saint John and educated in local schools graduating from the former Saint John Vocational School. He served his apprenticeship as a machinist at the Saint John Drydock and was a trades supervisor upon his retirement from Rothesay Paper Limited. He was a charter member of the Saint John Heart Surgery Support Group and a member of the Independent Order of Foresters, Kingston Keenagers, Friendship Circle, Long Reach Bible Study Group, Irving Retirees Club, Kennebecasis Bowling League and Peninsula Pearls. He served as a deacon at the Kingston United Baptist Church as well as on the Trustee Board and was a former member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he had been actively involved. He is survived by his wife of 45 years Doris M. (Chisholm) Evans, son William Blakely (Goldie) Evans, daughters: Wendy Aileen (Roy) Greer, Susan Marie Greenfield, and Gayle Louise Armstrong, his grandchildren: Teagan Evans, Melissa Greer, Virginia Greer, Robin Greer, Joshua Greenfield, David Greenfield and Michael Armstrong, brother Gordon T. (Clair) Evans and sister Mary (James) Webb. Predeceased by sister Beatrice Whiting and brother Eldon Evans. Viewing at CASTLE "Fallsview" Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue (634-1701) on Tuesday, September 9, 2003 (Family and extended family), public visitation on Wednesday, September 10, 2003, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday from the Fallsview Chapel. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Following the interment a reception will be held at the Fallsview Family Reception Center. Donations to the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of the donors choice would be appreciated.
